Our Methodology

Lineage is a supplement brand that formulates every active ingredient at the dose used in the peer-reviewed human trials that demonstrated its effect, and discloses that amount on the label. This page documents how we grade evidence, select ingredients, and verify every batch through independent third-party testing.

1 — Question

Every Lineage formula begins with a clinical question, not a market opportunity. Before we evaluate ingredients, we define the outcome we’re trying to support — at the level of biological mechanism, not symptom. “Improve sleep” isn’t a question. “Increase time spent in slow-wave sleep without affecting REM architecture” is. The specificity changes everything that follows.

We work backward from the outcome to the published evidence base.

Our research team reviews peer-reviewed studies — preferentially randomized controlled trials in human subjects, with secondary weight given to systematic reviews and meta-analyses. We exclude animal-only data and industry-funded studies without independent replication. Each candidate ingredient is scored on five dimensions: mechanism plausibility, effect size, dose clarity, safety profile, and replication strength. Only ingredients with grade-A or grade-B evidence proceed.

We review every human clinical trial available for each candidate ingredient. Meta-analyses, randomized controlled trials, and mechanistic studies are weighted by methodology quality. Ingredients without at least two independent human studies don’t make the formula — regardless of how compelling the mechanism looks on paper.

Each ingredient is dosed at the clinical threshold established by the highest-quality evidence — not at a level that looks impressive on a label. We use patented, bioavailable forms where the data supports superiority. No pixie-dusting. No proprietary blends that hide what’s actually in the bottle.

We trace every ingredient to its source, verify each supplier’s specifications, and document origin and testing for every lot.

Production follows documented cGMP procedures — registration, certification, audits, and record retention — at every step from blending to bottling.

Every lot links to its accredited-lab results and certificate of analysis, archived and searchable by batch number.

How we grade evidence.

Lineage products contain only Grade A and Grade B ingredients. Grade C compounds — regardless of popularity — do not enter our formulas.

Where our ingredients come from.

We require three things from every supplier we work with:

Certificate of Analysis — Each lot of raw material arrives with documented identity, potency, and purity testing. We re-test in-house before manufacturing.

Extract standardization — For botanical ingredients, the active compound concentration is specified and verified. Curcuma longa extract isn't enough; Curcuma longa standardized to 95% curcuminoids is.

Country of origin — Documented and disclosed. We publish origin on every product's ingredient dossier.

Suppliers who cannot meet all three are not added to our roster. We currently work with nine raw material partners across the United States, Iceland, Japan, India, and France.
